Classic Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gape wet-fly / competition hook, 8-10
  • Thread To match body 8/0

Materials

  • Underbody/weight Lead-free wire (leaded blob) (several wraps)
  • Body (rear) Fritz colour 1 (1 length)
  • Body (front) Fritz colour 2 (1 length)

How to tie it

  1. Wrap several turns of lead-free wire over the shank to weight the fly so it fishes deeper and on the drop; secure with thread.
  2. Tie in the first Fritz colour at the bend and wrap it forward over the rear half in dense touching turns, stroking fibers back.
  3. Tie in the second Fritz colour and wrap it over the front half to just behind the eye, again keeping it dense.
  4. Tie off, trim with a blade, build a head and whip finish.
