How to tie it
Start the thread and slide the Gold Cyclops Bead all the way to the eye.
Tail: tie a sparse clump of Ice Dub Shimmer Fringe on top of the shank, trim the butts, and clip the tail to one shank length.
Tie in the Small Copper Wire along the side of the shank, bind it back to the bend, and spiral the thread forward.
Tie a second clump of shimmer fringe in along the side of the shank, then build a slight thread taper that thickens toward the bead.
Wrap the shimmer fringe forward around the body up to the bead and tie it off; snip any straggly fibres.
Counter-wrap the copper wire forward, opposite the direction of the body wraps, pulling it hard so it digs into the slippery fringe; tie off.
Tie a clump of about 20 shimmer fringe fibres on top of the shank for the wingcase and legs. Push the bead back slightly to open a little space at the eye and jump the thread over the bead onto that bare shank.
Pull the fringe forward over the top of the bead, split it into two equal bunches, and lash one down each side of the shank so the fibres sweep rearward.
Whip finish in front of the bead while holding the fibres back out of the way, and trim the thread.
Gather the leg fibres together and trim them to half the body length. Coat the top of the fly and the head with brush-on Zap-A-Gap to lock the bead and fringe in place.
