Midge · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved scud/emerger hook (TMC 2487), 18-22
  • Thread Gray 14/0

Materials

  • Trailing shuck White uni stretch (White Antron yarn, a few fibers)
  • Body UV pink material (UV Pink Ice Dub, thin)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (Extra-small copper wire)
  • Collar White uni stretch (One white ostrich herl)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start gray thread, wrapping back around the curve to the bend.
  2. Tie in a sparse tag of white Antron as a short trailing shuck, no longer than the gap.
  3. Catch in fine copper wire, then dub a slim UV pink body forward to the 70% mark. Keep it wispy.
  4. Rib the body with 5-6 open turns of copper wire and helicopter it off.
  5. Tie in one white ostrich herl by the tip and take 2 turns for a soft, breathing collar.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and add a tiny drop of cement.
