How to tie it
Slide the black slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook (small hole first) and seat it at the eye.
Wrap several turns of lead wire behind the bead, snap it off, and pinch it flat so it seats up into the slot to lock the bead; secure with orange thread and build a small thread dam behind the bead.
Lay a smooth bed of thread along the shank for the body (use no glue, adhesives ruin squirmy material).
Color the front thread section just behind the bead with a royal-blue marker to form the dark 'blackhead'.
At the rear, tie in a length of squirmy worm material for the tail; take a couple of wraps, then a turn or two underneath and behind it to anchor it against sliding, leaving the tail as long as you like.
Wind the squirmy material forward as the body. Pull it tight for a translucent look or leave it looser for pronounced segmentation, up to just behind the bead.
Lock it with a half hitch of the squirmy, then bring the thread behind the bead and secure with several individual half hitches (in place of varnish, which cannot be used).
Trim the front tag of squirmy level with the bead and trim the tail to length.
