  • Hook Wet fly / soft hackle, 16-18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Tying silk/thread Black floss (body)
  • Starling feather Dark partridge hackle (1)

How to tie it

  1. Start the black thread behind the eye and lay a smooth thread base back to above the barb.
  2. Build a slim black silk body forward, leaving room at the front, with a slightly heavier thorax area.
  3. Tie in a small dark starling feather by the tip and take one sparse turn as a soft collar.
  4. Stroke the hackle back, form a small head and whip finish.
