Materials

  • Tail Dark dun material (Dark dun hackle fibers)
  • Body Dark permanent marker (Stripped peacock quill, dyed dark)
  • Wing Dun microfibetts (Dark dun hen hackle tips (optional))
  • Hackle Dark dun hackle (Dark dun dry-fly hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the 75% mark.
  2. Tie in a tail of dark dun fibers, one shank length long, and bind back to the bend.
  3. Catch in a stripped, dark quill and wrap it forward in touching turns to the 70% mark for a segmented body, then tie off.
  4. If using wings, stand a pair of dun hen tips upright at the 70% mark and post them.
  5. Tie in a dark dun hackle and take 4-5 turns for the collar, then tie off.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and add a small drop of cement.
