Materials

  • Tail Golden pheasant (Golden pheasant tippet fibers)
  • Body Black ostrich herl (Black floss or thread, slim)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (Fine oval silver tinsel)
  • Hackle Black hackle (Long soft black hen hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread, running it back to above the barb.
  2. Tie in a sparse tail of golden pheasant tippet fibers, about half a shank long.
  3. Catch in fine oval silver tinsel, then build a slim black body forward to the 80% mark.
  4. Rib the body with 4-5 even open turns of silver and tie off.
  5. Tie in a long-fibered soft black hackle and take 2-3 turns as a full, mobile collar.
  6. Sweep the hackle slightly back, build a small head, whip finish, and cement.
