  • Hook Streamer hook, 4x to 6x long

Materials

  • Tail Red yarn, short
  • Rib Silver oval tinsel
  • Body Silver flat (mylar) tinsel
  • Wing Bucktail tied white, then black (shorter), then brown on top
  • Head Black thread

How to tie it

  1. Start black thread behind the hook eye.
  2. Tie in a piece of red yarn on top of the shank at the front and bind it back along the shank with thread to above the barb, so the yarn forms a short tail at the bend.
  3. Tie in the silver oval tinsel rib at the same place and bind it back along the shank too.
  4. Wind the thread forward to the front with even tension, so the underbody is smooth, and trim the front end of the yarn at an angle behind the eye.
  5. Tie in the flat silver tinsel at the front and wind it in close turns to the back and forward again so no thread shows.
  6. Wind the oval tinsel forward in evenly spaced turns (five to eight), tie it off behind the head space and trim.
  7. Tie in a small pinch of stacked white bucktail on top, extending to about the end of the tail.
  8. Tie in a smaller, shorter pinch of black bucktail over the white.
  9. Tie in the brown bucktail on top as the last layer.
  10. Build a neat head with black thread, whip finish, and finish with head cement (hooked4lifeca and Dressed Irons also add eyes or coats of UV or hard-as-hull finish).
