Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Streamer tube with trailing hook
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Tag/tail Red wool (short)
  • Body Flat silver tinsel (full body)
  • Rib Oval silver tinsel (over body)
  • Under wing White bucktail (sparse)
  • Mid wing Black bucktail or black bear (thin band)
  • Over wing Brown bucktail (sparse)

How to tie it

  1. Mount tube and start thread at the rear.
  2. Tie in a short tag of red wool at the tail.
  3. Tie in oval silver rib, then wrap flat silver tinsel forward to form the body and rib over it.
  4. Tie a sparse bunch of white bucktail on top as the belly/under wing.
  5. Add a thin band of black bucktail (or black bear hair) as the middle stripe.
  6. Top with a sparse bunch of brown bucktail.
  7. Form a neat head and whip finish.
