Classic Recipe

  • Hook 2X-short curved emerger/scud hook, 16-22
  • Thread Black 70 denier

Materials

  • Bead Silver tungsten bead (1/16-5/64 in)
  • Body Black tying thread (-)
  • Rib Opal/Mirage Flashabou or tinsel (1 strand)
  • Thorax Fine black dubbing (optional) (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the silver tungsten bead to the eye.
  2. Start thread behind the bead, tie in a strand of opal Mirage tinsel, and wrap thread to the bend.
  3. Build a slim black thread body forward to behind the bead.
  4. Wrap the Mirage tinsel forward in 5-7 evenly spaced turns; the prismatic rib flashes every color instead of plain silver, adding extra trigger.
  5. Tie off the rib, optionally add a pinch of black dubbing as a thorax, whip finish and cement.
