Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Pike · Intermediate · 1 version
Classic Recipe
- Hook 4X-6X long streamer hook, 2-10
- Thread Black 70 denier
Materials
- Tail Yellow hen/rooster hackle fibers (short tuft)
- Rib Medium flat silver tinsel (1 length)
- Body Black floss or Uni-Stretch (as needed)
- Beard/throat Yellow hackle fibers (small bunch)
- Wing 4 white rooster neck hackles (4)
- Eyes Jungle cock (optional) (1 pair)
How to tie it
- Tie in a tuft of yellow hackle fibers as a tail at the bend, then tie in the silver tinsel rib.
- Build a smooth, slim black floss body from tail to just behind the eye.
- Spiral the silver tinsel forward in 5 evenly spaced turns and tie off for a bright ribbed body.
- Tie in a beard of yellow hackle fibers under the throat, reaching to about the hook point.
- Match four white rooster neck hackles into a wing tied flat over the back, extending to the end of the tail, so it undulates like a baitfish.
- Add small jungle cock eyes on each side if desired, build a neat black head, whip finish and cement.
