How to tie it
Start the red thread on the shank, leaving bare hook exposed at the front. The silver head area is part of the look.
Take a small clump of black EP fibers (less than you think), lay it on top extending about 4 inches past the bend, secure with one or two wraps, then fold the forward excess underneath the hook and wrap again. Each clump dresses top and bottom.
Repeat with two more clumps of black, working slightly forward each time.
Tie in three or four strands of pearl-blue Angel Hair off each side as tail highlights; keep it minimal and leave the strands long for now.
Add another two or three clumps of black EP fibers ahead of the highlights, top and bottom, always measuring 4 inches past the hook.
Tie in two or three clumps of red EP fibers at the front for the head: lay the fibers over the thread, pull back, and tie top, then bottom. This builds real body into the fly.
Whip finish, leaving the remaining bare shank showing at the eye, and glue the wraps.
Remove from the vise and brush the whole fly with a toothbrush or comb to blend the colors, then trim to a tapered baitfish profile, letting the fibers flare. They take their natural shape in the water.
Roll a small bead of Goop into the fibers on each side of the head and press on the plastic eyes.
