How to tie it
Put the bead on a jig hook, start the thread right behind the bead, make a few wraps to seat it, then run the thread back to about where the barb would be.
For the tail, tie one leg of barred Sexy Floss to the near side of the hook and take it over to the other side, so the tail is forked with a strand on each side.
Return the thread to just behind the bead, tie in amber wire, then tie in three peacock fibres with the tips trimmed even, and run the herl and wire back to the tail.
Wrap the three peacock fibres forward in touching turns to directly behind the bead and trim them off.
Counter-wrap the amber wire forward through the herl as a rib to lock it in, then twirl the wire off and break it.
Tie in the same Sexy Floss on the near side for the front legs and loop it round to the other side so there is a loop on each side; leave the loop for now.
Make a dubbing loop, trim the tip of half a natural dun CDC feather, put one side of the feather in the loop, spin it and pick out the fibres with Velcro.
Make one wrap of the CDC loop behind the legs and the rest in front, capture the loop with the thread, trim it off and sweep the fibres back with the fingers.
Dub a small noodle of shrimp pink Ice Dub as a hot spot behind the bead.
Whip finish right behind the bead and trim the thread.
Trim the tail and legs to about body length and break the legs apart so there are two on each side; leave the CDC fibres a little long.
