Materials

  • Tail White rubber legs (V-shaped)
  • Body (rear) Orange and black woven chenille (woven)
  • Body (front) Black chenille (full)
  • Hackle Brown hackle (palmered through front)
  • Legs White rubber legs (2 pairs)
  • Antennae White rubber legs (forward)
  • Weight Lead wire (heavy)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, wrap lead
  2. Tie in V-shaped rubber tail
  3. Weave orange and black chenille for rear body
  4. Tie in black chenille and hackle
  5. Wrap front body, palmering hackle
  6. Tie in rubber legs at sides
  7. Add rubber antennae forward
  8. Whip finish

Substitutions

  • Body instead of Black and orange variegated chenille: Black chenille + orange floss underbody — Build the two-tone by hand; Brown/black variegated chenille — Slightly more natural
  • Legs instead of White rubber legs: Barred Sili Legs — More lifelike movement; White Crazy Legs — Curlier, more action
