  • Hook Emerger style, 14
  • Thread Chartreuse

Materials

  • Bead Small silver bead
  • Tail Crystal Flash, a single strand looped around the thread to make two tail segments
  • Rib Crystal Flash, a longer piece of the same (wire is an option)
  • Body Black and red semi-seal dubbing
  • Thorax / hot spot Sparkly chartreuse dubbing right behind the bead (captioned 'diamond bright and catis green')

How to tie it

  1. Put the silver bead on a size 14 emerger-style hook and start chartreuse thread to make a small base.
  2. Take a single strand of Crystal Flash, loop it around the thread and tie it straight back to form two tail segments; go down the bend a bit.
  3. Tie in a longer piece of the same Crystal Flash for the rib, and trim the tail.
  4. Dub the black and red semi-seal up the hook, close to the bead, leaving about two bead lengths of space at the front.
  5. Rib the Crystal Flash evenly up the body, tie it off and snip it.
  6. Dub one more noodle of black and red semi-seal to build up a ball.
  7. Right behind the bead, dub a big ball of sparkly chartreuse dubbing as a hot spot, then whip finish right behind the bead.
  8. Trim the tail, leaving it a little long.
