Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2X-short emerger/curved hook, 12-18
  • Thread Black 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1 sized to hook)
  • Tail Natural Hungarian partridge (small bunch fibers)
  • Rib Pearl anti static bag strip (small Flashabou)
  • Body Light hare's mask (dubbing)
  • Thorax Peacock ice dub (1-2 herls)
  • Hackle collar Hungarian partridge (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead to the eye and mount the hook.
  2. Start thread and tie in a short bunch of partridge fibers as a tail at the bend.
  3. Bind in a strand of pearl Flashabou for the rib, then dub a slim light hare's-mask body forward to the thorax.
  4. Rib the body forward with the Flashabou in 4-5 open turns and tie it off.
  5. Wrap a peacock-herl thorax up behind the bead.
  6. Tie in a partridge feather by the tip and take one to two turns for a soft-hackle collar, sweeping the fibers back.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
