Biot Midge Emerger

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved emerger hook, 18-24
  • Thread Black or olive 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Trailing shuck Amber/brown material (few Antron fibers)
  • Body Black, olive, or gray material (1 small biot)
  • Thorax Dark permanent marker (fine dubbing or peacock)
  • Wing puff White CDC or Z-lon (small tuft)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the curved hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a short Antron trailing shuck at the bend.
  3. Tie in a small biot by the tip and wrap it forward to the 70% mark for the segmented body.
  4. Tie in a small CDC or Z-lon wing puff standing up at the thorax.
  5. Dub a tiny dark thorax around the wing base to prop it.
  6. Whip finish a small head behind the eye.
