Tie in one gold goose biot on each side of the hook as antennae, high on the stem, curving away from each other, roughly even and not too long (the tippet will be tied between them).
Build thread underneath where the bead will sit, whip finish, put a little Flexament or Zap-A-Gap on it and push the bead over the glued thread.
Wrap the thread back to the bend of the hook.
Tie in the tail: one gold goose biot on each side, taken from lower on the stem where they are wider, curving away from each other and about even. Get some thread between each biot and the shank to hold them apart.
Tie in lead wire along the sides of the shank (not on top or bottom) to flatten the underbody, working it down with needle-nose pliers if needed.
Coat the underbody with Flexament and let it become tacky.
Tie in the longest turkey biots you can find so the ridges stand up for segmentation, and wrap forward; on a size 8 it takes about three biots, each picking up with a slight overlap.
While the Flexament holds the biots down, colour the antennae, tail and abdomen with a permanent marker, top and bottom.
Add more Flexament on top of the biot body for durability.
Tie in the turkey tail section that will form the wing case, then tie in the brown hen back feather, turned upside down, toward the back for the legs.
Use a dubbing loop for the thorax, leaving room behind the eye for the collar.
Fold the wing case forward, brush the leg fibres back down either side of the thorax and make a small whip finish.
Outdoors, mix the epoxy and lay a base coat of it over the wing case, then a second coat over the top.
Once the epoxy has hardened, tie the thread back in, add Flexament and dub a collar that blends with the thorax so the epoxy back flows into it; whip finish.
Rough up the collar and thorax with a dubbing brush or bodkin, picking fibres out to each side.
