Nymph · Midge · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard nymph hook, 16-20
- Thread Black 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (1 sized to hook)
- Tail/Trailing shuck Brown permanent marker (few Antron or biot tips (optional))
- Body Black, olive, or brown material (1 goose/turkey biot)
- Thorax Peacock or matching dubbing (small pinch)
How to tie it
- Slide a gold bead to the eye and mount the hook.
- Start thread behind the bead and lay a smooth base back to the bend.
- Tie in a single biot by its tip at the bend, notch pointing the way that gives you a fuzzy or smooth edge as preferred.
- Wrap the biot forward in touching turns to build a cleanly segmented body, stopping short of the bead.
- Bind off the biot and dub a small peacock or matching thorax up to the bead.
- Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
