Hook Size 8, captioned 'commodore jj304' (the tyer says the Umpqua X Series is pretty much the same)
Body 2mm foam, shaped with a beaver tail cutter, glued to the hook; four segments
Wing Foam cut with a wing cutter, with midge Crystal Flash
Hot spot 1mm foam, cut at an angle; white on this fly
Front legs Tan sexy floss, cut a little shorter than the back legs
Back legs Dark yellow sexy floss
How to tie it
Glue the foam body onto the hook.
Make four segments in the body, starting at the bend of the hook and ending right behind the eye, tying them all in at the same time and making X wraps on the way back.
Tie in the midge Crystal Flash at the second segment and keep it long; do not cut it yet.
Cut the foam wing, glue it down with super glue, press it and pull the Crystal Flash up and hold it; cut the Crystal Flash slightly longer than the wing.
Tie on the 1mm foam hot spot, cut at an angle and left a little long so it pops up.
Tie in the back legs of dark yellow sexy floss, not too bulky.
Tie in the front legs of tan sexy floss, cut a little shorter than the back legs.
Trim the head at an angle and finish with marker eyes (the tyer says four on the belly, two on the side).
