Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 2XL streamer/nymph, 6-10
  • Thread black 6/0

Materials

  • golden pheasant tippet Orange/black-barred golden pheasant tippet (small bunch)
  • flat tinsel Silver oval tinsel (rear half of body)
  • chenille Black chenille (front half of body)
  • saddle hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread behind the eye and wrap to above the barb.
  2. Tie in a short bunch of golden pheasant tippet fibers as a tail.
  3. Tie in flat silver tinsel and wrap it forward over the rear half of the shank; tie off at midpoint.
  4. Tie in black chenille and a grizzly saddle hackle at the midpoint.
  5. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the eye to form the front body; tie off.
  6. Palmer the grizzly hackle forward over the chenille front section, secure behind the eye and clear the fibers.
  7. Form a neat head and whip finish.
