Reference Recipe
- Hook 4XL streamer hook, 4 to 8
- Thread Black 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Eyes Lead/brass dumbbell (1 pair, large)
- Tail Black or olive marabou (1 plume)
- Flash Pearl Krystal Flash (4-6 strands)
- Body Black or olive chenille (1)
- Hackle Matching saddle (1)
How to tie it
- Start thread near the eye and lash the large dumbbell on top of the shank a short way back with tight figure-8 wraps.
- Wind to the bend and tie in a marabou tail one shank length long plus a few strands of flash.
- Bind in the chenille and a saddle hackle by the tip at the bend.
- Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the eyes and tie off.
- Palmer the hackle forward in five to six evenly spaced turns and lock it behind the eyes.
- Build a thread head between and in front of the dumbbell, whip finish, and cement.
