Classic Recipe

  • Hook Streamer/stinger hook (Fulling Mill 36040 or Gamakatsu B10S), 2
  • Thread Black 140 denier

Materials

  • Beads Plummeting tungsten beads (black) (5/32 & 1/8 in)
  • Tail Black rabbit zonker strip (one shank length)
  • Body Black Ice Dub (as needed)
  • Head (rear) Bruiser Blend Jr dubbing, black (as needed)
  • Head (front) Bruiser Blend Jr dubbing, black (as needed)
  • Eyes 3D holographic eyes, red or gold (7/32 in)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the two black plummeting tungsten beads to the eye to load the head so the fly rides point-up and jigs along the bottom.
  2. Tie in a black rabbit zonker strip at the bend for a wiggling tail about one shank length long.
  3. Wrap black Ice Dub forward to build the body.
  4. Spin two dubbing loops of black Bruiser Blend and brush the fibers back to form a dense dark baitfish head.
  5. Glue on contrasting red or gold holographic eyes, one per side.
  6. Trim the dubbed head to a tapered minnow shape.
