How to tie it
Start the black thread behind the eye, fill the little gap at the bend joint if you like, and wrap to the start of the bend.
Tie in medium oval gold tinsel and wrap a tag of six touching turns rearward of the thread; back off the three open holding wraps, tie off, and trim.
Build a slight thread bump, then tie in a shortish tail of 12-15 red saddle-hackle fibers with gentle wraps so it lies straight back rather than flaring.
Tie in three peacock herls and wrap a small butt of about four turns just ahead of the tail; trim.
Tie in the flat Mylar rib with the gold side toward the hook.
Tie in red floss up front, wrap down to the butt and back for a smooth two-layer body; tie off and trim.
Spiral the gold rib forward in evenly spaced turns; tie off (the last wrap gets hidden by the next joint).
Wrap a second, slightly larger peacock herl joint at the front of the body. Three strands, doubled over themselves for bulk; it helps the collar flare.
Fold a long-fibered red saddle hackle and tie it in ahead of the joint; wind about four turns for a full swept-back collar, pull everything rearward, ramp thread over the stem, and trim.
Tie in a wing of two mottled turkey slips, concave sides together, body-length and a bit under a hook-gap wide. Loose pinch wrap first, then tighten; add jungle cock eyes on each side if you have them.
Build a little thread bulk at the head, tie in black ostrich herl, wrap five or six turns down the ramp for the head, tie off, whip finish, and cement.
