Beefcake Hopper

Terrestrial · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank wide-gap terrestrial hook (TMC 2499BL), 8-12
  • Thread Tan 6/0

Materials

  • Underbody Tan Ice Dub (Thin pinch)
  • Body Tan foam (2mm strip, layered/extended)
  • Wing Mottled tan Thin Skin over pearl flash (1 strip)
  • Legs Barred tan/brown rubber (2 pairs)
  • Indicator Orange foam (Small tab)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start the thread; bind a tan foam strip at the bend so a stub extends off the back as the abdomen.
  2. Dub a thin band of tan Ice Dub over the rear shank for a flash underbody.
  3. Fold the foam forward and bind it at mid-shank to form the first body segment, then repeat to build a second segment toward the eye.
  4. Tie in a mottled Thin Skin wing over a few strands of pearl flash, extending to the end of the extended body.
  5. Add a barred rubber leg on each side with figure-8 wraps, kinking them to splay out.
  6. Bind a small orange foam indicator tab on top behind the eye, whip finish, and touch the belly with UV resin for durability.
