  • Hook Ahrex FW562
  • Thread Black

Materials

  • Bead Purple bead (1)
  • Marabou Black marabou (tail, a shank and a half)
  • Crystal Flash Pearl flashabou (2 strands out the back)
  • Simi Seal Black and blue simi seal (70% of the dubbing loop)
  • Ice Dub Electric purple (30% of the dubbing loop)

How to tie it

  1. Put a purple bead on an Ahrex FW562 and start black thread.
  2. Tie in a tail of black marabou about a shank and a half long. A long soft tail is what makes a micro leech move.
  3. Add two strands of pearl Crystal Flash out the back.
  4. Make a dubbing loop and charge it with a blend of about 70% black and blue Simi Seal and 30% electric purple Ice Dub. The Ice Dub is there for flash, the Simi Seal for movement, and that ratio keeps the fly from going gaudy.
  5. Spin the loop and wrap it up the shank, then tie it off and trim the excess.
  6. Whip finish and give the fly a really good brushing out.
