  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Black (tungsten) bead (1, optional, sized to hook)
  • Tail Dun/pheasant fibers (3-4 fibers)
  • Abdomen Olive-brown pheasant tail (3-4 fibers)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire)
  • Thorax Dark olive dubbing (Small pinch)
  • Beard Brown partridge (Small bunch, throat only)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the optional bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start the thread.
  2. At the bend tie in a short, sparse tail one gap long and bind in the copper rib.
  3. Wrap a slim pheasant-tail abdomen over the back two-thirds, keeping it skinny.
  4. Counter-wrap the rib in 5-6 turns and snip.
  5. Dub a small dark thorax up behind the bead.
  6. Invert the hook or work underneath and pinch in a short partridge beard at the throat only, angled back toward the point.
  7. Build a small head and whip finish.
