Dry Fly · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 12-14
- Thread Tan 8/0
Materials
- Tail Medium dun microfibbets (4-6 fibers, split)
- Body Hendrickson pinkish-tan (Dubbing)
- Rib Stripped brown hackle quill (1 quill)
- Wing Post White uni stretch (One clump poly yarn)
- Hackle Medium dun hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start the thread mid-shank.
- At the bend split a tail of dun microfibbets, one shank length long.
- Post an upright white poly clump at the 65% mark for the parachute wing.
- Tie in the stripped hackle quill, then dub a slim pinkish-tan body from tail to post.
- Wind the quill forward in evenly spaced turns for crisp segmentation and tie it off. The rib is what sets this apart.
- Wind the dun hackle 4-5 turns down the post, parachute style, and pin the tip.
- Sweep the hackle back, build a small head, and whip finish.
