Bear's Para Henny Ribbed

Dry Fly · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 12-14
  • Thread Tan 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Medium dun microfibbets (4-6 fibers, split)
  • Body Hendrickson pinkish-tan (Dubbing)
  • Rib Stripped brown hackle quill (1 quill)
  • Wing Post White uni stretch (One clump poly yarn)
  • Hackle Medium dun hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start the thread mid-shank.
  2. At the bend split a tail of dun microfibbets, one shank length long.
  3. Post an upright white poly clump at the 65% mark for the parachute wing.
  4. Tie in the stripped hackle quill, then dub a slim pinkish-tan body from tail to post.
  5. Wind the quill forward in evenly spaced turns for crisp segmentation and tie it off. The rib is what sets this apart.
  6. Wind the dun hackle 4-5 turns down the post, parachute style, and pin the tip.
  7. Sweep the hackle back, build a small head, and whip finish.
