Reference Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank egg/scud hook, 8-12
  • Thread Pink 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold (tungsten) bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Egg Body Pink McFly Foam / Glo Bug yarn (2 short clumps)
  • Veil White uni stretch (1 thin clump)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the tungsten bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start the thread at mid-shank.
  2. Lay a short thread base and bind two clumps of pink egg yarn on top of the shank, one behind the bead and one just behind it.
  3. Add one thin white clump on top as a milt veil.
  4. Gather all the yarn upright, hold under light tension, and take a few tight thread turns at the base to flare it into a round egg.
  5. Trim the yarn into a tight ball roughly one and a half gaps wide, keeping it snug behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead.
