Streamer · Salmon/Steelhead · Steelhead · Salmon · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Short-shank scud/wet hook, 10-14
  • Thread White 8/0

Materials

  • Yolk Sac Fluorescent orange egg sac (1 bead, mid-shank)
  • Body Pearl anti static bag strip (Mylar tubing or braid)
  • Back Gray/olive top (Sparse marabou or Krystal Flash)
  • Tail Gray flotation (Short marabou tuft)
  • Eyes Black ostrich herl (Tiny painted or stick-on)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the orange bead onto the hook and mount it, starting the thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a short gray marabou tail no longer than a half shank.
  3. Bind in pearl mylar tubing or braid and wrap a smooth minnow body forward, working the orange bead down to the belly at mid-shank so it bulges as the yolk sac.
  4. Lay a few strands of gray or olive over the top as the darker back and bind at the head.
  5. Build a tapered thread head and add a tiny black eye on each side.
  6. Whip finish and coat the head with a drop of UV resin.
