Bead Head Krystal Body Bugger

Classic Recipe

  • Hook 3X-4X long streamer hook, 4-10
  • Thread Black (or to match) 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black brass/tungsten bead (1)
  • Weight Lead-free wire (10-12 wraps)
  • Tail Marabou (one shank length)
  • Flash Krystal Flash (4 strands (2 doubled))
  • Body Krystal Flash / Estaz sparkle chenille (1 length)
  • Hackle Saddle hackle, palmered (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the bead to the eye, add 10-12 wraps of lead-free wire behind it and jam the wraps into the back of the bead; lock with a drop of super glue.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, then add a strand of Krystal Flash doubled over each side (four strands total).
  3. Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of sparkle (Krystal) chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the sparkle chenille forward to behind the bead to form a shimmering body and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open turns and tie off behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
