  • Hook Curved emerger/scud hook, 14-18
  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Shuck Amber Antron (Sparse tuft)
  • Body Pheasant tail / olive (3-4 fibers or thin dubbing)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire)
  • Thorax Peacock or hare's ear (Small pinch)
  • Hackle Brown partridge (1 turn)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread behind the bead.
  2. At the bend, tie in a sparse amber Antron shuck a half shank length long.
  3. Bind in the fine copper rib, then wind a slim pheasant-tail or dubbed body forward to the thorax.
  4. Counter-wrap the rib in 4-5 evenly spaced turns and snip.
  5. Dub a fuzzy thorax behind the bead.
  6. Wind one turn of partridge as a soft-hackle collar, sweep the fibers back, and whip finish behind the bead.
