How to tie it
Flatten the barb slightly and slide the beads onto a scud hook before it goes in the vise (six 11/0 glass beads on a size 14), leaving room between beads for dubbing and room for a head.
Mount the hook and start fine thread near the bend, building a ball of thread there for the beads to butt against.
Turn the hook upside down in the vise; the fly is tied inverted.
Slide the first bead tight against the thread ball and wrap over to anchor it.
Roll a small pinch of dubbing into a little 'dreadlock', lay it on the hook and secure it with two wraps, pull it up and slide the next bead down tight against it.
Repeat dubbing and anchoring for each bead segment, keeping the beads tight against each other.
After the last bead, turn the vise back upright, build a small thread head and whip finish.
Trim the dubbing exactly at the point of the hook.
