Classic Recipe

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1)
  • Tail Black marabou wisp (short)
  • Body Black/blue Ice Dub (slim)
  • Wingcase Black flash (over)
  • Legs Black hen (sparse)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start black thread behind the bead.
  2. Tie in a short wisp of black marabou at the bend as a stubby tail.
  3. Dub a slim body of black/blue Ice Dub forward to the thorax area.
  4. Tie in a strand of black flash over the back to be pulled forward as a wingcase.
  5. Dub a slightly fuller thorax up behind the bead.
  6. Pull the black flash forward over the thorax and bind it down as the wingcase.
  7. Tie in a few sparse black hen fibers each side as legs, then whip finish behind the bead and cement.
