Materials

  • Bead Tungsten bead
  • Thread Black thread
  • Tail Goose biots
  • Rib Blue wire
  • Body UV Ice Dub
  • Collar Hen soft hackle (or CDC)
  • Wing Black goose biots
  • Legs Rubber / centipede legs

How to tie it

  1. Put the tungsten bead on the hook and start black thread behind it.
  2. Tie in two brown goose biots, married back to back, as a tail about hook length, and bind them forward over the shank.
  3. Tie in blue wire on the side and walk the thread back.
  4. Dub a fairly healthy body of UV ice dub from the tail up to behind the bead.
  5. Wrap the wire forward in five or six segmenting turns up to behind the bead, lock it down and spin off the excess.
  6. Tie in a small hen hackle (or CDC) by the tip behind the bead and wrap it as a soft collar, then tie off and trim.
  7. Add a small dubbing bump as a prop, then tie in two black goose biots on top, one at a time at an angle, as the wing and trim the excess.
  8. Tie in rubber (centipede) legs on each side just past body length.
  9. Dub a sparse collar over the last materials, then whip finish behind the bead.
