Terrestrial · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Bass bug hook, 1/0-6
  • Thread To match 140D

Materials

  • Tail Marabou + rubber legs (full)
  • Head Spun deer hair or foam, bullet-shaped, NO cup (sloped)
  • Legs Rubber (2 per side)
  • Eyes 3D eyes (optional)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the bass bug hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a full marabou tail with a few rubber legs mixed in, about a shank length long.
  3. Build the head: either spin and pack deer hair forward then clip it to a smooth bullet shape sloped back to front (NO cupped face. The slope is what makes it slide and wake instead of pop), or slip on a pre-shaped foam slider head and bind it.
  4. Add two rubber legs per side, splayed out from the head.
  5. Glue on 3D eyes if using, whip finish at the eye, and cement.
