Tyer Recipe
- Hook 3XL streamer hook, #4-#8
- Thread Olive 6/0
Materials
- Conehead Gold or copper conehead (1, sized to hook)
- Copper wire Copper wire (small, for rib)
- Sparkle dubbing (Ice Dub) Olive/pearl sparkle dubbing (for body)
- Pine squirrel zonker strip Natural, olive or rust pine squirrel zonker strip (1 strip)
How to tie it
- Slide the conehead onto the hook to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread behind the cone.
- Tie in the copper wire at the rear, above the hook point.
- Dub a slim sparkle-dubbing body forward, stopping just behind the cone.
- Tie in the pine squirrel strip just behind the cone so it lies over the top of the body, extending about one hook-length past the bend as a tail.
- Spiral the copper wire forward through the strip to bind it to the body, and tie off behind the cone.
- Wrap the remaining butt of the squirrel strip a couple of turns around the shank behind the cone to form a soft collar; tie off.
- Whip finish behind the cone.
