Classic Recipe

  • Hook Curved/emerger hook, 16-22
  • Thread Brown 8/0

Materials

  • Tail/Shuck Brown Z-Lon (short trailing)
  • Body Brown dubbing (slender)
  • Wingcase Black Thin Skin (short)
  • Legs Brown hackle fibers (sparse)
  • Wing Dun CDC or poly (small puff)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the curved hook, tie in a short brown Z-Lon shuck.
  2. Dub a slender brown abdomen around the bend to the 60% mark.
  3. Tie in a short strip of black Thin Skin at the thorax, pointing back.
  4. Dub a slightly fuller thorax, add a few brown hackle fibers as legs each side.
  5. Fold the wingcase forward, and tie in a small dun CDC or poly puff at the head.
  6. Whip finish.
