Barbless Beadhead Flashback Prince

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Barbless 2XL curved nymph hook, 12-18
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (sized to hook)
  • Tail Brown permanent marker (2 goose biots, split)
  • Body Natural case (peacock herl)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine oval tinsel)
  • Flashback Pearl flashabou (Mylar strip)
  • Wings White uni stretch (2 goose biots)

How to tie it

  1. Run the gold bead to the eye, mount the barbless hook, and start black thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in two brown biots splayed into a short V tail about half a shank long.
  3. Bind the gold tinsel and a strip of pearl Mylar, then wrap a full peacock herl body forward to just behind the bead.
  4. Counter-rib the body with 4-5 open turns of gold tinsel to protect the fragile herl.
  5. Pull the pearl Mylar flat over the top of the body and bind behind the bead as the flashback.
  6. Tie two white biots in a flat V over the back, curving down and reaching the hook point, shiny side up.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and cement the head.
