How to tie it
Mount the rear shank and tie in a marabou tail about a shank length long with a few strands of Krystal Flash.
Palmer a schlappen hackle over the front of the rear section for bulk and movement, then whip finish the shank.
Thread Beadalon through the shank's rear eye, add a couple of beads, and lash both wire ends onto the front hook to join the sections with a short, mobile gap.
On the front hook dub or wrap a body over the rear two-thirds.
Tie in a splayed webby feather on each side as pectoral fins so the sculpin can 'prop' itself.
At the head, spin and pack deer hair (or wool) and trim it into a broad, flat, wide sculpin head. The bulky head displaces water and gives the fly its heavy wobble.
Whip finish at the eye and shape the head, keeping the underside flat so it tracks upright.
