Cut a foam cylinder in half, mark the centre of each half, push a dubbing needle almost through from the end, then do the same from the other end.
Heat the needle and run it through the hole to widen it, then repeat from the other end so the cylinder slips over the hook eye easily.
Cut adhesive Witchcraft tape to the length of the cylinder and align one edge with the factory end, which forms the face; add the flat prismatic eyes and set the head aside.
Fit the cylinder over the hook eye and onto the shank, start heavy white thread at the back edge of the foam, then remove the foam.
Wind the thread rearward to about 1/4 inch in front of the hook point for the tail tie-in.
Take a clump of white bucktail, strip out the extra long and extra short hairs, measure a tail about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 times the hook length, trim the butts square and tie it in.
Put a drop or two of Zap-A-Gap on the wraps and butt ends.
Strip a few fibres from the core of the Estaz or Cactus Chenille and tie it in at the base of the tail, then bring the thread up the shank.
Wind the Estaz up the shank in tight adjacent wraps, tie off and trim close.
Fit the foam on to check, remove it, and wrap the thread up to the eye and back down several times so the foam fits snugly, then make a couple of 5 or 6 turn whip finishes behind the eye.
Either seal the thread wraps with a couple of coats of Hard as Nails and slip the head on (so heads stay interchangeable), or coat them with Zap-A-Gap and slide the head on to make it permanent.
Skim Hard as Nails over the tape joint and the eyes so they do not work loose.
