Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer, #4-10
  • Thread Yellow 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (Brass or tungsten, optional)
  • Tail Yellow mcflylon (Marabou + gold/pearl Krystal Flash)
  • Body Yellow / gold material (Cactus chenille (Estaz))
  • Hackle Yellow or grizzly hackle (One saddle hackle, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. If using a bead, slide it on and seat it behind the eye; mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a yellow marabou tail one shank length long with several strands of gold and pearl flash for extra shine.
  3. Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of yellow cactus chenille at the bend.
  4. Wrap the flashy chenille forward to just behind the eye and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward over the body in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off.
  6. Build a small head, whip finish and snip.
