How to tie it
Debarb the hook (Mustad 3399 size 4) and attach waxed thread a little behind the eye.
Tie in four strands of copper crystal flash by the middle, wind down the shank, fold the rest back on top and keep going to the end of the body; the flash must reach over two inches since the fly is two inches overall.
Return the thread behind the eye and tie in pumpkin black-fleck silly legs at the midpoint behind the eye, wind backward a little, fold them back and wind down the shank.
At the back, loosen the wraps and use light collecting wraps so the legs and flash are gathered to the shank but not flared.
Leave a small bump of leg material behind the eye as a saddle and tie the black bead chain into it, elevated off the shank, with super glue, so it cannot rotate.
Wrap back to near the rear, make a 2 to 3 inch dubbing loop, and trim the tail so the fly is two inches long.
Spin SLF crayfish brown into the loop, brush it out, and wind it backwards-to-forward over about the first third of the shank (to about the hook point), brushing each previous turn rearward; tie off.
Brush the dubbing out with a wire brush.
Make a longer dubbing loop, fill it generously with rusty craw dub, spin and brush it, then wind it forward in front of the first section, stroking fibres back, up to the bead chain eyes, ending with a wrap over the bead chain.
