- Hook 60° jig or straight streamer hook, #8-12
- Thread Black 6/0
Materials
- Balance pin Steel balance pin (Balance pin, extends past eye)
- Bead Gold or black bead (Slotted tungsten on the pin)
- Tail Black or olive material (Marabou + Krystal Flash)
- Body Match tail (Crystal chenille (Estaz))
- Hackle Match tail (One saddle hackle, palmered)
How to tie it
- Slide the bead onto the balance pin and mount the hook.
- Lash the pin along the shank with the bead one bead width past the eye and set it with superglue so the fly rides horizontal.
- At the bend tie in a marabou tail one shank length long with a few strands of Krystal Flash.
- Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of crystal chenille at the bend.
- Wrap the crystal chenille forward to just behind the bead and tie off.
- Palmer the hackle forward over the body in 5-6 evenly spaced turns, tie off behind the bead, and whip finish.
