Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard saltwater / bonefish, #4-8
  • Thread Pink 6/0

Materials

  • Eyes Silver / black material (Bead-chain or small lead eyes)
  • Body Pink ears (Rabbit or Estaz dubbing)
  • Legs Pink / tan rubber legs (Round rubber (Sili Legs), two pairs)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (A few strands Krystal Flash)
  • Wing Tan / pink material (Sparse craft fur or rabbit)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread a third of a shank behind the eye.
  2. Figure-8 the bead-chain eyes to the TOP of the shank so the fly rides hook-point-up and stays weedless on the flats.
  3. Run thread to the bend and tie in a few strands of pearl flash the length of the shank.
  4. Over the point side, tie in a sparse tan-and-pink wing about one and a half shank lengths long. Keep it thin so it breathes.
  5. Tie in a pair of rubber legs at the bend so they trail alongside the wing.
  6. Dub or wrap a pink body forward, figure-8 through the eyes, and add a second pair of legs splayed at the head.
  7. Build a small pink head, whip finish and snip. A drop of cement on the eye wraps adds durability.
