How to tie it
Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the 70% mark.
Cut, clean and stack a small clump of dun deer hair; tie it in standing upright at the 70% mark and fan it into a 180° half-circle. This comparadun wing is the whole flotation system, so keep it sparse.
Build a small thread dam in front of the wing to hold the fan upright.
Return to the bend and split a few microfibbets into a V tail one shank length long, using a dubbing ball to spread them.
Dub a slim, tapered olive body from the bend forward to the wing.
Cross a little dubbing under and in front of the wing to fill the thorax, then advance to the eye.
Whip finish behind the eye. The fly should sit flush in the film with no hackle needed.
