Materials

Tail Pheasant tail fibers
Abdomen Wrapped pheasant tail fibers (the tail butts)
Thorax Olive or brown very fine dubbing
Wing Tan deer hair
Hackle Olive grizzly hackle
How to tie it
Cover the hook shank with thread back to just above the barb.
Tie in a bunch of pheasant tail fibers just above the barb for the tail; do not trim the butts.
Advance the thread to the thorax position and wind the butts of the pheasant tail forward in tight turns to form the abdomen.
Dub a small thorax in front of the abdomen, leaving room for the wing and hackle.
Stack a small bunch of tan deer hair and tie it in ahead of the thorax with the tips pointing forward over the eye; clip the butts short so a small butt shows.
Tie in the hackle at the wing and wind it forward 3 or 4 turns, then tie off.
Whip finish in front of the wing, behind the eye, and add a drop of cement or super glue to the wraps.
