Mylar tinsel Silver (gold reverse) (medium, one strand)
Marabou Black marabou (about 1/3 of a plume)
Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (4-5 strands)
Jungle cock nails (optional) Natural jungle cock (2 small)
UV resin or head cement Clear uv resin (one drop)
How to tie it
Start the black thread on the front third of the shank and snip the tag end.
Tie in medium Mylar tinsel up front with the silver side toward the hook (no lump mid-body), then bind it to the rear with big open wraps, leaving the thread hanging a couple of eye-lengths behind the eye.
Wrap the tinsel forward turn-in-front-of-turn to the thread; tie off, fold the tag back over itself for two more securing wraps, then trim.
Tie in a clump of black marabou at the head so the tips reach a little past the hook bend; secure with several tight wraps and trim the butts.
Even the butt ends of four or five peacock herls and tie them in over the marabou as a topping, the same length as the wing; trim the excess.
Slide a bodkin under the herl with your thumb on top and draw it rearward under light tension to set a gentle curve over the wing.
If you have jungle cock, add a small nail to each side of the head; lock with extra wraps and trim the stems.
Build a neat head, whip finish, and coat with a drop of UV resin or head cement for a hard shiny head.
