Materials
Bead Tungsten bead, 3.8 mm
Weight Lead wire, 0.025 inch, glued on the shank
Tail and body strip Pine squirrel (micro zonker) strip, black
Body Medium UV polar chenille, black
Hackle Black India hen soft hackle
Collar Black uv ice dub
How to tie it
Slide the tungsten bead onto the jig hook and secure it in the vise.
Put super glue on the shank and lay 0.025 inch lead wire on it, trimming the ends flush with the side of the scissors.
Start the black thread and take it slightly onto the bend of the hook.
Wet the pine squirrel strip and tie it in at the bend with a pinch wrap, then wrap thread around the base of the strip like a parachute post to prop it away from the hook and reduce fouling.
Stroke the strip back and tie in the medium UV polar chenille.
Pair the strip and chenille in the fingers and wrap them forward together, stroking the fibres back after every wrap.
Tie off leaving a little room behind the bead, trim flush and trap any chenille fibres down.
Tie in the black India hen soft hackle, take a couple of turns and tie it off.
Stroke the fibres back, take a turn over the top and add a couple of turns of black UV ice dub to clean up the front.
Add a little super glue to the thread, whip finish with about three wraps.
