Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2X-long streamer hook, #10 (8-12)
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Black or gold bead (1, 3mm)
  • Marabou Olive/black marabou (1 sparse clump (tail))
  • Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Chenille or dubbing Olive/black chenille or dubbing (body)
  • Saddle hackle Matching saddle hackle (1 feather (palmer))

How to tie it

  1. Slide a bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail off the bend about one shank long, plus a few strands of flash each side; keep it sparse.
  3. Tie in a saddle hackle by the tip and a length of chenille at the base of the tail.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward to just behind the bead for the body and tie off.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns over the body, tie off behind the bead and trim the tip.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
